The newest art installations are outdoor murals which will be placed on the side of the Cultural Center at 502 N. Water Street in Liberty. One mural will face Water Street, and the other Main Street.

The celebration, Friday, June 23, 2017, 6:00 pm, includes a Soul Food Dinner and musical entertainment. Proceeds will benefit Garrison School Cultural Center and its work to preserve history, celebrate culture, and promote human relations.

Come to Garrison School Cultural Center in Liberty, Missouri,Friday, March 24, 2017, 6:30 pm,  to learn about some of the unsung “An-sisters” of the Civil Rights Movement.

Defiant, brave and free, opponents of slavery, formed a Corridor of Courage -- making the Underground Railroad a real route to freedom for enslaved Americans before the Civil War.

Garrison’s digital learning Badge prepares young people for community success and culturally cognizant leadership. Learn about local culture not covered in your textbooks or taught in the classroom.

Garrison Cultural Center will join over a million readers in the Twenty-Seventh National African American Read-in. The program coordinator is local poet and playwright, Shelton Ponder, and the event is free and open to the public.

The keynote speaker, Archie Williams, is a member of the Kansas City Chapter of the Black United Front. He will speak on the Kwanzaa principle of  Kujichagulia (Self-determination). A potluck dinner will be held immediately before the program.

The calendar of events for November 2016 - June 2017 has been announced. Further information and details will be made available prior to each event.

Garrison received one of the honorable mention cash awards for $250.00 that will be used for expenses associated with our project. Students in our ASEM program will be invited to participate in this project and any other Liberty high school students who may choose to sign up.
