Please join us on August 21, for a special Juneteenth/Missouri Bicentennial celebration.

The program, July 24th, at 6:30 p.m., will be live-streamed on Facebook and feature the unveiling and dedication of a historical marker that has been placed on the Garrison School site. 

The Garrison School Cultural Center in partnership with the Greater Kansas City Black History Study Group, will showcase approximately 10 booklets on “The Impact of the Great Migration on American Society”.  The booklets were developed by 80-90 students working in teams that researched specific topics pertaining to Black Migration, and who also interviewed individuals whose families participated in The Great Migration.

Garrison Cultural Center is hosting a “Women in The Arts” program at Garrison Center on Friday, May 3rd  at 6:30 PM. Catherin Raine and Jasmine Alie will present original works of art. Two other presenters, Dr. Judy Dilts, and Dr. Sylvia Nadler will discuss their art of collecting the works of others.

The members of the Clay County African American Legacy Inc. are hosting its 8th Annual “Freedom Tree Lighting Ceremony” at Garrison School Cultural Center on Friday, December 7h at 6:30 p.m.

On this occasion, besides launching the brochure which features a tour guide to the historic sites in the African American Garrison Community, we will also host a Christmas Open House tour of the Garrison art gallery.

Liberty Symphony Orchestra is proud to partner with Clay County African American Legacy, Inc. to present a free community concert on October 6, featuring orchestral music by African American composers. This FREE concert is presented in part by the Liberty Arts Commission.

City of Liberty to Celebrate 18th Annual Juneteenth and 141st Anniversary of Garrison School

This exhibit is an interactive way to explore the aspects of how cooking has changed since the original Economy Cookbook was published by the Ladies of the First Presbyterian Church of Liberty in 1880 and again in 1903.
