Juneteenth 2014 Annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration Members of the Clay County African American Legacy Inc. (CCAAL Inc.) will host its annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration at the historic Garrison School, 502 N. Water Street, at 12:30 p.m. on June 28th. The celebration will begin with a Grand Opening of the African American History Gallery in the school. Tickets to the event are $10 and may be purchased at the door. Proceeds from the event are used to support the Kenneth Robinson Scholarship program and Capital Improvements to the Garrison School. Following the Gallery opening, four area musical groups will provide an afternoon of entertainment. Beginning at 1 p.m., the AKA Band, featuring C.J. Walker will perform, followed by the Liberty Jazz Ensemble at 2 p.m., Brothers United at 3 p.m., and Tom and Bobby Pender at 4 p.m. Photos courtesy of Angie Borgedalen |
